Accompanied by the resonant drone of acoustic Tanpuras, students master early-morning Kharaj riyaz (low-register voice grounding), Alankars (scalar patterns), Raga grammar (Aroha, Avoroha, Vadi, Samvadi, Pakad), Bandish composition, and improvisational mastery (Aalap, Bol-Aalap, Taans, and Sargams).

The harmonium is the indispensable heart of Indian vocal music. Whether accompanying a solemn classical Khayal, a soaring Rabindra Sangeet melody, a devotional Kirtan, or a delicate Ghazal, a skilled harmonium player breathes life and emotional support into every vocal phrase. At Klarice Academy, harmonium instruction goes far beyond mechanically pressing keys with one hand. We train students in the nuanced art of dual-hand coordination: rhythmic, steady bellows pumping with the left hand while the right hand glides across the keyboard with rapid dexterity, delicate touch, and sensitivity to vocal phrasing. Students learn raga scales, fingering hygiene, drone stops, ornamentation (meend and murki simulations), and the art of accompanying other singers seamlessly.
